Nevil Fernandes

Nevil Fernandes is a British sports writer based in Guadalajara, Mexico, with a broad interest in soccer, tennis, baseball, rugby, professional wrestling, and North American and Latin American sport.

A veterinarian by profession, Nevil spends much of his working life caring for animals, but his connection with the wider community extends well beyond his professional responsibilities. He is actively involved in helping people around him and has become a familiar and well-regarded figure within his local community in Guadalajara.

Living in Mexico has also strengthened his interest in the sporting cultures of the Americas. He closely follows MLS and MLB alongside soccer across Mexico and South America, while maintaining a strong interest in rugby, tennis, WWE, and major international competitions.

Sports have long been part of Nevil's lifestyle as well as his writing. He regularly works out and places considerable importance on fitness and staying active, which gives him an additional appreciation for the conditioning, discipline, preparation, and physical demands involved in elite sport.

At The Sports Encounter, Nevil brings together a British background, life in Mexico, professional experience outside journalism, and a genuinely wide sporting curiosity. His coverage is particularly suited to stories that cross leagues, countries, and sporting cultures rather than staying within a single competition.

Nevil is 28 and based in Guadalajara.

Areas of interest: Soccer, South American soccer, MLS, MLB, tennis, rugby, WWE, athlete fitness, international competitions, and multi-sport coverage.
