Kandy Royals responded to two early defeats with a composed all-round performance, defeating Dambulla Sixers by 43 runs in Match 6 of the Lanka Premier League 2026 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Tuesday night.

Lahiru Udara’s second successive half-century gave Kandy’s innings its structure before Wanindu Hasaranga, Angelo Mathews, and Vijay Shankar pushed the total to 194 for six. Dambulla then raced to 106 for one in 11 overs, with Sahibzada Farhan threatening to take the chase away from the Royals.

Farooqi eventually dismissed Hasaranga at 156 for five, but Mathews remained unbeaten on 29 from 19 balls. The Kandy captain struck four boundaries and guided the innings through the final overs without allowing Dambulla to produce a late collapse.

Vijay Shankar added an unbeaten 13 from seven balls. His 31-run partnership with Mathews occupied only 16 deliveries and carried Kandy to 194 for six.

A target of 195 appeared challenging on a surface offering some grip, but Dambulla made it look manageable during the opening half of the chase.
